Beta Release of New Software: Fireware 11.11 and Dimension 2.1
28 Mar 2016

Fireware 11.11 Highlights

Network Discovery: The first step in securing a network is to know everything about that network. This new service in the security suite allows admins to run a scan from the Firebox to generate a visual map of all nodes on the network (example shown below). Understand which operating systems are running, which ports are open, and which protocols are being used. One click integration with FireWatch and Traffic Monitor.

Mobile Security: Administrators can enforce controls on Android and iOS devices that are connecting to the network – by VPN or WiFi. Allows employees to use their device for business functions, without compromising security of the network. Note: Both Network Discovery and Mobile Security are available on Firebox M and T models only, and require a special feature key during the Beta test period, which you can request at the Beta site. The associated FireClient Beta application is now also available from the Google Play store (Android) and the Apple app store (iOS).

Botnet Detection: Even companies with the best security defenses can get infected. It’s important to monitor outbound traffic across all ports and protocols to look for traffic to known C2 or botnet sites. We’ve added new IP reputation feeds for botnet command and control nodes – available on all Firebox and XTM models with a Reputation Enabled Defense license.

Explicit Proxy enables support of legacy network architectures that have a gateway defined at all clients for internet traffic.

Multiple guest hotspots per firewall enable support for broader use cases, such as guest and conference room access.

RADIUS Single Sign-on support provides authentication for wireless traffic, providing names in wireless dashboards and reports in Dimension.

Google for Business: Organizations can control the domains that are used to access Google applications, enabling the use of approved content and applications only.

Dimension 2.1 Highlights:

Along with the Fireware v11.11 release, we are also providing a major new update to WatchGuard Dimension. The Dimension v2.1 release adds support for new Fireware features, with new dashboards for botnets and Mobile Security.

User Anonymization: In some organizations and regions, it’s not appropriate (for privacy reasons) for a single viewer to see all of the detailed user and IP information in Dimension. With anonymization enabled, this data is hidden from view until approved by a second person to meet the "four eyes" requirement.

Security Services Summary is a new report and dashboard that shows the key statistics and detection rates for each of the WatchGuard Security Services on the appliance.

Report on unused policies will show any firewall policies that have not been used. Forgotten or poorly understood policies may indicate a backdoor or security risk. This report is a common request from PCI auditors. (Dimension Command license required)
