Manage application performance with Dynatrace

Dynatrace product family includes application performance monitoring platform (Dynatrace Application Monitoring), user experience management platform (Dynatrace User Experience Management) and a solution for business applications monitoring (Dynatrace Data Center RUM). These products allow to quickly localize performance problems and react on them before problems can affect user experience. Unlike old and heavy APM-systems of previous generations that can only react to network events, Dynatrace APM is a lightweight and easy to use solution able to learn by itself, automatically discover applications and download updates, can act in advance and reveal potential performance issues.

Dynatrace Application Monitoring captures timing and code level context for all transactions. With exact, deep atomic level detail across all transactions and infrastructure, the platform enables the fastest path to a root cause of problems from one click to a line of code. Infrastructure and application performance data displayed in a single window with out-of-the-box dashboards and allows to find root cause of a problem in second for any applications – mobile, cloud or related to Big Data. The solution provides an ability to trace every transaction, immediately get a visibility into an application performance and it’s impact on user experience, see exactly which transactions are impacted by an issue and fix them before users are impacted.    

Dynatrace User Experience Management allows to check user experience of different services, including web and mobile applications. The system automatically recognizes user requests and interprets them in context of user activities (i.e. search, view pages, downloads and orders). It also creates a real-time visualization of website performance influence onto generated revenue and recognizes the stage customers tend to leave the website on. All user transactions are recorded for the future analysis that allows to pick out unsatisfied customers and detect root causes of services performance problems. Ability to proactively contact customer when something goes wrong and prevent poor app rating. Know if client side errors were caused by invalid user input or an error in the client-side logic and follow each transaction though whole server-side infrastructure down to a single method invocation or a database call.

Dynatrace UEM comprises real-time and synthetic monitoring which allows to evaluate application performance using predetermined transactions. Dynatrace Synthetic Monitoring allows to test services performance by emulating real user behavior. Tens of thousands of end user PCs in 168 countries and more than 150 backbone nodes provide load testing capabilities. Synthetic Monitoring measures system performance parameters, analyzes test executions, rank problems by importance and find their root causes.

Dynatrace Data Center RUM (DC RUM) solution provides a correlated view of the health of enterprise applications and the network from a single dashboard. DC RUM automatically recognizes users and transactions across application delivery chain, including custom and packaged applications, load balancers, web servers, middleware, databases, network services, etc. through passive data collection on commutators or taps in a datacenter. It allows to identify hotspots , performance limitations, visualize server and network bottlenecks, understand WAN usage and optimization efficiency for all transactions across all tiers.

Dynatrace Data Center RUM provides near real time performance monitoring and a convenient and efficient access to historical packet level data. Automated analysis determines normal versus abnormal application performance that helps to quickly localize and resolve problems. DC RUM highlights most often visited webpages that allows to prioritize actions required to solve issues. With this information you can tell whether performance problems are global application issues or isolated to specific sub-groups, like location, browser or client software version.
